Overview
MCR are seeking an experienced Protection Engineer
with 5+ years of experience
to design and manage power system protection for our clients' data centres.
In a client-side capacity, you'll be overseeing consultants and ensuring the design of robust electrical systems using your ETAP expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Protection Systems: Configure relays (e.g., SEL), breakers, and UPS for HV/MV/LV systems to meet IEEE, IEC, and Tier III/IV standards.
- Power System Analysis: Run short-circuit, arc-flash, and coordination studies in ETAP; optimize relay settings for fault isolation.
- ETAP Mastery: Build system models, generate TCCs, and integrate with SCADA for real-time monitoring.
- Client Oversight: Review consultant designs, guide commissioning, and ensure compliance with safety and uptime goals.
- Documentation: Produce relay settings, reports, and risk assessments for regulatory and operational needs.
- Innovation: Drive improvements in reliability and sustainability for data center power systems.
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering; PE license or equivalent preferred.
- 5+ years experience in power protection, ideally with 3+ years in data centres or other mission critical facilities.
- Expert in ETAP for modeling, analysis, and coordination
- Knowledge of relays (SEL, Siemens), SCADA, and codes (IEEE, NEC).
- Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills
