You want autonomy. Try shaping every mechanical design across APAC.
This is not for box tickers or followers. It is for the mechanical specialist who wants to set the standard, not just follow it. You will be the go to expert for all things mechanical, leading design for data centre projects across Asia. Colo, hyperscale, the lot.
You will run workshops, coach external consultancies and have real influence over which design ideas make it through. High density, liquid cooling, new concepts. Your call. You will help build and update the reference design and steer the technical direction for the region.
No people management.
No P&L.
Just deep technical leadership.
The role
- Act as regional mechanical design authority for APAC mission critical data centres.
- Define mechanical design requirements and standards for multiple simultaneous projects.
- Lead and QA/QC design deliverables from concept through IFC, commissioning and IST.
- Size and specify standard mechanical equipment and systems.
- Work with A/E partners, contractors and authorities to ensure code compliance and design intent.
- Support sales and customer projects with technical input and solutions.
- Troubleshoot issues, run RCA and corrective actions to improve performance and efficiency.
You bring
- Deep mechanical design experience in data centres, both colocation & hyperscale
- Strong knowledge of key plant and systems
(air cooled chillers, CRAH/CRAC, pumps, water treatment, HVAC, AHUs, valves, piping, ductwork). - Comfortable with energy, fluid flow, heat transfer and psychrometric calculations.
- Understanding of controls and BMS
(control methods, BAS or PLC systems, alarms, trending, sequences of operation). - Familiar with ASHRAE TC 9.9 concepts such as PUE, temperature and humidity limits, containment.
- Experience with CFD studies and using data to optimise thermal performance.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
- Professional registration such as PE, CEng or equivalent would be advantageous
