Grid Connections Manager, APAC (Data Centres)
Singapore | Regional travel across APAC
Power decides whether a data centre site goes ahead. This role sits right at that point.
We’re working with a global data centre platform that is growing its pipeline across APAC. They need a hands-on power and grid specialist, based in Singapore, to take sites from the first conversation with the utility through to energisation.
This is for someone who wants to do the work, not just oversee it. You’ll have consultants to support you, but you’ll be the person who knows the grid, talks to the utility and keeps the connection moving.
What you’ll do
- Run power due diligence when new sites come up, engaging the utility and directing consultants to confirm capacity and timelines.
- Own grid connection applications, technical studies and connection agreements with transmission and distribution operators.
- Work on PPAs and other power contracts alongside the legal and commercial teams.
- Be the main point of contact with grid operators on your projects.
- Work with development, engineering, construction, legal and country teams so grid delivery is built into the wider programme.
- Track grid risks and milestones from capacity reservation to energisation, and raise issues early with clear options.
- Help build repeatable processes as the APAC programme scales.
What you’ll bring
- Hands-on experience of grid connection or power infrastructure delivery, from application through to connection agreement, and ideally energisation.
- Direct knowledge of at least one or two APAC grids and their utility processes, with skills that carry across markets.
- Enough technical grounding in HV and MV connections and grid codes to hold your own with utilities and engineers, plus the commercial sense to handle connection contracts and PPAs.
- Experience working across engineering, construction, legal and commercial teams.
- A degree in engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Willingness to travel across the region as projects need, at times up to 30%.
Backgrounds from data centre developers, renewables or battery storage developers, utilities and network operators are all relevant. Experience on 100MW+ connections, or a second Asian language, would be an advantage.
