The Data Centre Services Engineer supports the day-to-day operation of data centre environments through IT hardware installation and maintenance, structured cabling, operational support, asset management and customer coordination. The role acts as a key on-site representative, working with customers, vendors and internal teams.
Job Description:
- Install, relocate, maintain and decommission IT hardware and related infrastructure within data centre environments.
- Perform structured cabling activities, including installation, patching, testing, labelling and documentation of Cat5e, Cat6, OM3, OM4 and OS2 copper and fibre cabling infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate rack elevations, equipment records and infrastructure documentation.
- Update Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) systems
- Provide first-line hardware and connectivity support, coordinating vendor support, repairs and escalation where required.
- Support hardware deployments, equipment relocations, infrastructure upgrades and technology.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in data centre operations, mission-critical environments or similar technical environments.
- Experience supporting IT hardware installations, relocations and maintenance activities within data centre environments.
- Strong structured cabling skills, including installation, testing, patching and documentation of Cat5e, Cat6, OM3, OM4 and OS2 cabling infrastructure.- Ability to read and interpret network diagrams, rack elevations and technical documentation.
